Gingerbread House

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup sour milk or buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp vinegar
  • 3 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 1/2 cup sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar

Panels

Mix shortening, brown sugar, molasses, sour milk or buttermilk, vinegar, flour, salt, ginger, and cinnamon and chill before rolling.

Roof 12″ square made in 2 sections

Frosting

Mix egg whites, sifted confectioners sugar, and cream of tartar and heat vigorously
